ERGO Versicherung offers a new rescue cost insurance that is easily purchased at any time and any place via the ERGO website and the “ERGO Alles Klar!” App. The new product covers the costs of search, rescue and recovery after an accident by land or by water, as well as medical costs. ERGO rescue cost insurance is available to last-minute planners as well: insurance cover begins as early as one hour after purchase.
Particularly in case of leisure accidents, you have to pay the costs of rescue efforts yourself. Whether it is hiking or mountain biking – the Austrian mountain rescue runs more than 700,000 rescue missions every year. A helicopter search and rescue can incur very high financial costs. For this reason, ERGO offers special rescue cost insurance with immediate effect for all those who are active in their leisure time and who want to have protection.
“With our rescue cost insurance, we are expanding the product range offered on our website and via our well-established ‘ERGO Alles Klar!’ App. Thus, we are implementing a further step of our digitalisation strategy. Customers can easily and safely purchase the policy online and enjoy insurance cover shortly thereafter – via any end device, whether smartphone, tablet or PC. Mobility and flexibility characterise the activities of our customers, which we want to accommodate by developing products of this kind,” says Christoph Thiel, Board Member of ERGO Versicherung, who is responsible for direct sales, IT and innovation.
Easy, instant and flexible insurance for the leisure time
ERGO rescue cost insurance can be purchased with a few clicks, directly on the ERGO website – or mobile, through our “ERGO Alles Klar!” App. Accepted payment methods include Visa, MasterCard, PayPal and express bank transfer. The one-time premium is paid upon purchase. The insured party has a choice of three different insurance periods: up to 3 days, up to 7 days and up to 14 days. The insurance policy is terminated automatically when the selected period expires.
The ERGO rescue cost insurance is valid worldwide and can be purchased for one, two or several persons. For instance, on a spontaneous hiking weekend, a single person enjoys insurance cover for 3 days at 7.99 euros, or an entire family (two adults plus children) at 15.98 euros for 3 days.

Whether you are hiking or mountain biking – the www.bergfex.at platform always provides comprehensive information. “We are pleased to have won Bergfex as a strong partner in advertising our rescue cost insurance,” explains Markus Eder who is responsible for strategic partnerships in ERGO direct sales. According to Markus Kümmel, Managing Director of bergfex.at, “Insurance cover customised to the target group and easy online purchase are the highlights of the rescue cost insurance.” He goes on to say that he is “very glad that ERGO is now offering this product directly to the users of the bergfex.at platform.”
