Innovative insurance cover by combining FinTech and InsurTech
Wirecard Central Eastern Europe (CEE), a subsidiary of Wirecard AG, now provides credit card acceptance for short-term insurance cover from the ERGO Insurance in Austria. Additionally, the payment specialist now handles payment processing via Mastercard, Visa, PayPal and SOFORT as an acquirer. This collaboration between the two companies combines financial and insurance technologies, thereby offering an innovative and uncomplicated insurance solution. Customers can use this offer straight away to take out insurance online.
Among other things, special rescue cost insurance is included in the new short-term insurance solution offered by ERGO. For instance, this applies to anyone who takes a spontaneous skiing trip one weekend and still wants to be fully covered. The benefit for all last-minute decision makers is that the insurance is very flexible. The insurance is active just an hour after being taken out. You can choose the duration of the cover and it will end automatically without any need for notice after the maximum validity of 14 days.
Christoph Thiel, Board Member of ERGO Insurance, responsible for direct sales, IT and innovation: “Mobility and flexibility define our customers’ behaviour. With Wirecard on our side, we can meet their needs and can offer insurance cover within a very short period of time. What’s more, this can be done using any device with secure payments, whether it is skiing, walking or wind surfing that takes your fancy.”
Roland Toch, Managing Director at Wirecard CEE: “Together with ERGO Versicherung in Austria we have been able to overcome the challenge presented by the growing trend for InsurTech, which combines insurance services with new technologies. This mobile-based, innovative insurance form offers customers maximum flexibility.
ERGO rescue cost insurance can be taken out directly in a matter of a few clicks via the ERGO website or using the ERGO app Alles Klar! on a mobile device. Rescue cost insurance covers sports and leisure incidents and is valid worldwide.
