An old office loft in central Berlin, professional support from mentors and 25,000 euros start-up capital: all this awaits start-ups in the accelerator programme “Axel Springer Plug and Play”. ERGO Group as Corporate Partner is actively involved in this program. Start-ups all over the world, also from Austria, can apply for one of the coveted place in “Axel Springer Plug and Play” until 3 May.
Selected start-ups from all over the world will have the opportunity to work on their business idea in the offices of “Axel Springer Plug and Play” for 100 days with the aid of a comprehensive mentoring programme and various workshops. The budding entrepreneurs will pitch their business idea at the “Demo Day” to potential national and international investors.
ERGO supports the start-ups as a Corporate Partner and is on hand in Berlin to provide them with help and advice. ERGO is hoping for new impetus for its own business from the young companies, especially in the development of new ideas and business models. “Insurance companies are not immune from the digital revolution. Our customers have new or altered expectations of us. We wish to develop innovative products and services, and are, therefore, expecting plenty of creative, thought-provoking impulses from the start-ups,” said Lars von Lackum, Head of Group Development at ERGO.
ERGO Group has been the first Corporate Partner of the “Axel Springer Plug and Play” accelerator since August 2014. Accelerators step in and support start-ups at an early stage in their development with intensive coaching for a limited period. In this way, they speed up the development of a new business idea. The accelerator in Berlin is a joint venture of German publishing house Axel Springer SE and the Plug and Play Tech Center in California’s Silicon Valley.
"The customer as a part of our society will be digitally networked with a high speed of change. He has and expects to, at any time gain easy access to information and communication. ERGO in Austria understands these needs and applies the changes in the interests of their customers. We need to look outside the box and be open for new ideas. Austrian start-ups offer these sufficiently. Therefore, I am confident that applicants from Austria have good chances" says Christoph Thiel, Executive Board member of the ERGO Versicherung AG, confident, as in his portfolio he is also responsible for the subject of innovation.
Start-ups that would like to be part of the next Batch VII at “Axel Springer Plug and Play” from August 2015 can find all the information they need online at www.axelspringerplugandplay.com/apply/. All applications must be received by 3 May 2015.
